“After this the novel swiftly goes from idyllic to horrific but told throughout in language that gives us the verbal music of the period and the soulful reality of this little community of outliers. ‘Angels Make Their Hope Here’ – this tribute to old Jersey is well worth your time.”

I’m just getting out on the circuit to promote ANGELS MAKE THEIR HOPE HERE, my novel that is set in an imagined community. It is set in a fictional, but plausible, mixed race community – or as I prefer to describe it: a tri-racial community or a community of people with an harmonious soup of European, African and Native American heritage. Thus far in talks, Ive gotten a tick of surprise at the tri-racial. Well what are we talking about when we say that an individual is “mixed race”?

I had a great “on sale date” reading at the Barnes & Noble store in Paramus, NJ. last night. My editor at Litlle Brown, Terry Adams, came out to support me. He’s a jewel of a friend. A couple of my aqua aerobics class buddies from Kearney came and brought others. My cousin, Barbara Clarke, came along for audience support and looks very decorative with the book. Pictures by Helmar Cooper, who came, but was taking the pix and did not take a selfie, so is not pictured.
